Found Something

If I could have stopped him, I would have, but he was too fast.

Tuna Tuna Tuna

To celebrate several April birthdays, we went to Monterey for the weekend of the 2nd-4th of May. What a great time we had! Monica drove to Grass Valley with Tate on Thursday night that week--as there was a lecture I needed to be at at the museum--and I flew down to Monterey Friday night late. We spent the better part of Saturday at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I love it! The tuna tank was among my favorite things, but the jellyfish displays were outrageously cool. So glad to have been able to go.

Fun in Monterey Last Weekend

More than anything, it made us realize we need a longer vacation! But we had good fun, good hotel, good food with Tate's Gram and Papa. Colin and I have been trading off on business trips, and/or creating strange hybrid trips of work and play for months; now we're ready for a REAL vacation.
A girl can dream.

Steaming Coffee and a Baby Boy

We were sure glad to have Monica home safe from China. Tate not only got a t-shirt from his mom's trip to Shanghai, but also a stuffed panda bear, and a postcard. I got a great watch with Chairman Mao who's waving arm is the second hand, beautiful chopsticks, and a lovely painting and photographs. Here's a short clip from just before she got here...

Tate's Birthday Present from China

Just kidding. A t-shirt! The real thing wouldn't fit in my carry-on.

Some Crawling and Laughing

Here's another funny one. Little Tate turns one on Monday. WOW...I can hardly believe that. We're hoping Monica makes it back on time--she's supposed to fly into Reno around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, too, so there's lots to be excited about that day!

Tom Petty Boogy

Monica flew to China yesterday morning, and she's working hard at educating educators about study abroad programs and options all around the world starting in about three hours. It's already like 3:30 a.m. Sunday there! Tate's Aunty Caitlin has come to visit for the weekend, so that's helping me quite a little bit.

Here's a funny little movie for you.

April Crawling

Tate's surprising us with his antics: he now points with a finger, pushes his high chair around the living room, and can understand "no," "mama" and "dada" (though he gets us confused...I say 'dada' and he looks for mommy coming up the stairs!), and he seems to like Cheerios already semi-soggy with milk.
He can stand, sometimes, without the assistance of a hand on a chair or a table, until he realizes he's standing without assistance, and then...plunk to the floor.
